Final stop - Los Angeles

Welcome home. It smells like old road ham.

We'll be reviewing the entries this week and we'll be evaluating how well it worked for us. Expect some heavy editing!

Total miles traveled: exactly 1290

Sixth stop wa to ca - truck stop

Time for another Miranda post! We pulled in at a truck stop for a wee bathroom break. We rested for quite a while and stretched our legs while observing the other drivers. Andrew got out a few fun sketches and I gathered my laptop to begin editing through photos from the weekend. The moment that I stepped out of the pleasantly air conditioned car I began to complain about the heat. It is so very hot.

Fifth stop wa to ca - random rest stop

After great progress through the beautiful redwoods and our trek through Miranda, we decided to find a rest stop. After two hours of driving south we finally found a solid candidate. We wheeled our way in and had a nice rest, until the sweet sound of semis and the warm sun cresting a hill woke us from our vehicular slumber.

Fourth stop wa to ca - Miranda

Alley of the giants plus city of Miranda equals awesome three a.m. adventures.

Third and a half stop, first gas refill - Eugene

Miranda here again with a notable event to blog about: first gas fill up! Andrew wanted to be sure to get a photo of him with an attendant. He was pretty excited. Also included is a photo of the view outside of the gas station. Not bad, not bad. He was thrilled to see that we're doing great at a cool 38mpg. Gotta love the Fit!

Third stop wa to ca - Portland

Miranda here, there's a lot of traffic on I-5 on this lovely evening at six pm, so now seems like a good time for a blog update! I'm going to go ahead and do a guest entry for Andrew so he can concentrate on driving :)

We just wrapped up a rather fun trek around the city. We had a few places we wanted to stop here but seeing as time got away from us we decided to only stop at one place: Powell's Books. This is an amazing five story book store and it was very difficult to get Andrew to leave. I felt bad urging him to wrap it up so we could hit the road but we have nine more hours to go!

The store was really amazing. The gaming section alone had us for an impressive amount of time. He could have easily spent a whole day looking around. Hopefully we get to go back soon. One of the best parts was their fairly competitive pricing.

We've passed the worst of the traffic now, thank goodness! I'll close with a bunch of pictures we took around the city. More updates to come!

Second stop wa to ca - centralia

Exciting stop number two! One of my favorite places to visit: Grandma's house. Over the river and through the woods, we arrived shortly afternoon and were greeted by Grandma, Poppa, cousin Christian, Seka and Scooby. We enjoyed a little family chit chat and Grandma regaled Miranda with stories from my childhood. We were then loaded down with cookies and hugs and sent on our merry way.
